Hey! I’m in L.A. I thought about reviewing this restaurant for Only Murders In The Inbox, but there’s literally no other tie-in to the show other than the name of the restaurant, which is disappointing. It’s a great name, though! Anyway, I’ll go check it out and let you know how it is -- they have a very simple menu, similar to In ‘N’ Out Burger -- but they’re rumored to be delicious! I’ll give you an update once I’ve checked it out.
I did a little sleuthing on the internet. The restaurant has a website and a second location (temporarily closed). The website may not be fully developed - it looks like they have a place for the menu but nothing came up for me. But I found a TV news story about the restaurant. There is a shot of the menu in the story but it doesn't look like the menu has burgers named for the show. If I am ever in LA I would want to try them. Of course not in the news story, but I also found there was an episode of the Murphy Brown TV show called Burger, She Wrote.
Excellent detective work Stephanie - worthy of J.B. herself! Even though I have just had breakfast, reading that article made me crave a burger. Plus FRIED PICKLES?! Yes please. If you get to LA and pop in, please could you get a photo of the "magic butter wheel"?! I have no idea what this is but I am imagining something you might find in Pee Wee's Playhouse 😂 I've added the Murphy Brown episode to my "to watch" list (I found it on the Internet Archive which is very cool https://archive.org/details/murphy-brown-s07E05-burger-she-wrote) - I've never seen Murphy Brown so am excited! Jx
The story on Burger She Wrote made me think about the movie "The Founder" which Randy and I just watched recently. It is about the founding of McDonald's and was very good. Have you seen it? McDonald's had a device that dispensed the ketchup and mustard on the bun. The original idea of McDonald's was also to have a simple burger with uncomplicated ingredients. Regarding the "magic butter wheel" at Burger She Wrote, if you watch the video version of the story, you will get to see the wheel!!
OMG Stephanie! I am such a luddite I didn't even realise there was a video version - will go there IMMEDIATELY to see the wheel. I haven't seen The Founder but have popped that on my "to watch" list. When I was a kid I sooooo wanted to go to McDonalds when it first hit the UK. I had to make do with a place called BUMBLES which was a McDonalds wannabe... It is 7.48am and I WANT A BIG MAC!
P.S. When I say “no other tie-in to the show” I mean it’s not decorated inside to resemble Jessica Fletcher’s kitchen or even uses similar tablecloths to her tablecloths (wouldn’t that be cute?!), none of the food is named after episodes or characters on the show, and the decor and signs aren’t Cabot Cove themed or anything, just the restaurant name and that’s it. Sorry to be a downer! Just giving you an idea of what it’s like.

Ah, what a wasted opportunity!! Gad, I would just love a Murder, She Cooked themed restaurant. There's a Golden Girls one somewhere... If you do get to check it out please could you find out what on earth their "magic butter wheel" is?! Another Murder, She Cooked reader, Stephanie, found this article and I am intrigued... https://abc7.com/burger-she-wrote-smash-wagyu-beef-west-hollywood/13820469/#:~:text=They%20are%20the%20talk%20of,just%20over%20two%20years%20ago - Jx
