Double Bill Watch Party Announcement
J.B. visits Universal Studios and the Psycho house! Plus PRIZES!
The next episode guide will be a doozy as it features MAGNUM PI!
But I’m having a “reflect and pause” moment this month
as I’m getting all my ducks in a row for an online extravaganza I am organising alongside the brilliant Brian Theis of The Infinite Feast in October. We’ll be co-hosting two free online watch parties. One featuring episode 13 of Murder, She Wrote series 8, Incident in Lot 7, where Jessica visits the Psycho house…
and, naturally enough, the day before that, a Psycho watch party!
Details about how to join the watch parties will be coming soon. For now, pop those dates in your diaries double checking the time where you are with World Time Buddy - watch out, because British Summer Time (BST) ends on 26th October as our clocks go back an hour. We’ll be on GMT on the Sunday. So, for example, if you are in New York, Saturday’s Psycho Watch Party will be at 2pm your time, whereas Sunday’s Murder, She Wrote Watch party will be at 3pm.
Confusing I know! Join us for one of the parties or both if you can. It’s always fun watching the same thing at the same time as lots of other folks around the world. Here’s the spot where we’ll be discussing the Murder, She Wrote episode and Psycho too….
You’ll need a DVD of the film and/or Murder, She Wrote episode OR have it lined up on a streaming service and I will count us down to PLAY. I’ll be sending out all the details of how to join in a week or so before the watch parties.
Until then…
Cook to win!
In conjunction with the watch parties Brian and I have hatched a plan to give away copies of our books in a little cookery contest. You do not have to be at either of the watch parties or be an expert chef, just have a go at one or more of our proposed movie-star favourites for a chance to win. If you are in the USA, our favourite account of your recipe tryout will win a copy of Brian’s wonderful book The Infinite Feast
If you are in Europe or elsewhere in the world, you have a chance of winning the Murder, She Cooked book.
For those in the USA who want to enter the competition the recipes to choose from are as follows…
“Alfred Hitchcock Presents: The Psycho Menu”
Anthony Perkins’ Tuna Fish Salad
and for those in Europe and the rest of the world, we propose
“Angela Presents: The Incident, er, Chicken, in Lot 7”
if you are vegetarian or vegan you could replace chicken with cauliflower steaks in Ron’s recipe. Don’t marinade the cauliflower as this can affect the texture, just coat your cauli with the oil mixture and bump up the wine. When I tried this (a big thank-you Dee Laverty for suggesting it) the dish was really delicious, but I thought it needed more liquid to steam the steaks. Maybe 2 cups? Let me know how it turns out if you try it.
The two Rons and Paula all appear in The Incident in Lot 7
If you are already the lucky owner of these books, don’t worry, if you win we can send them as a gift to a person of your choosing, won’t they be pleased?!
You can still win if a disaster befell you in the kitchen, if you either fixed it somehow and it was a triumph, or your description of your failure was just so hilarious you were the most entertaining one in the room.
Extra kudos if you make the judges laugh with your account!
The closing date for sending us your recipe feedback will be November 1st, so there’s lots of time to cook!
Send pix and feedback by replying to any of the Murder, She Cooked emails.
Or by emailing theinfinitefeast@gmail.com
Of course, it would be perfect if you prepare your dish on the same day as one of the watch parties, but if you make it before or after, we won’t mind! Open to entries RIGHT NOW!
PS - if you love old movies why not join me for a Service De Luxe (1938) watch party too? Details over at Dinner and a Movie.
