Jessica is writing a book called Murder at the Inn and her chum Harry knows the perfect place for Jessica to spend a week for inspiration.
Remote and slightly spooky, The Stone Lake Inn is relatively new but incorporates some of the structure of a much older inn where the writer Edgar Allan Poe once stayed.
Perfect for a writing retreat, methinks.
Naturally, though, Jessica's typewriter won't see much action as she witnesses what appears to be a murder. So her writing will have to wait, because there is detecting to do.
Many of the guests at The Stone Lake Inn enjoy fishing, so it would be appropriate to have a fish dish with this episode.
Or why not make yourself a batch of Lee Meriwether's Peanut Butter Cookies to munch on as you try and work out whodunit?
Lee Meriwether’ Peanut Butter Cookies
1½ cups sifted all-purpose/plain flour
½ cup granulated sugar
½ teaspoon baking soda/bicarbonate of soda
¼ teaspoon salt
½ cup shortening
½ cup creamy peanut butter
¼ cup light corn syrup/golden syrup
1 tablespoon milk
Preheat oven to 350℉.
Sift dry ingredients together. Cut in shortening and peanut butter until mixture resembles coarse meal. Blend in the syrup and milk. Shape into a 2-inch roll and chill. Slice ⅛ to ¼-inch thick. Place half the slices on a cookie sheet; spread each with ½ teaspoon of peanut butter. Cover with the remaining cookie slices; seal the edges with a fork. Bake for about 12 minutes. Cool slightly. Remove them from the sheet.
